A detachment of 40 police raided the Jewish section of the refugee camp at Aster, near Linz, yesterday, searched a number of buildings, treated several of the residents brutally and made three arrests, according to reports received here today.

The Ministry of Interior, the gendarmerie headquarters and the Linz police disclaimed knowledge of the raid. The Austrian director of the camp was not consulted and protested against the police action for which no reason was given.

About 250 Jewish refugees are resident in the camp. The three arrested were said to be in possession of 1,000-schilling banknotes but there is nothing illegal about possession of such notes in this country.
