Tribute to the well-known Jewish journalist and columnist, B, Z. Goldberg, whose column appears daily in The Day-Morning Journal, a Yiddish newspaper published in New York, was paid here last night at a gathering in Park Sheraton Hotel attended by 800 guests, marking the 40th year of his journalistic career.
Principal speakers included Morris Weinberg, publisher of The Day-Morning Journal; D. L. Mekler, editor of the newspaper; Dr. N. Swerdlin, representing the newspaper’s editorial staff; Rabbi Louis Finkelstein, chancellor of the Jewish Theological Seminary of America; Dr. Meir Rosenne, representing the Government of Israel; Morris J. Laub, of the World Union of Conservative Jewry; Rabbi Joseph Lookstein; and Israel Stolarsky, of Histadrut.
Messages of greetings to Mr. Goldberg and to Mrs. Goldberg–who is a daughter of Sholem Aleichem–were sent by Dr. Nahum Goldman, president of the World Zionist Organization; Moshe Sharett, chairman of the Jewish Agency executive; Rabbi Joseph B. Soloveitchik, of Boston; and many other Jewish leaders. S. Radman presided at the gathering.
