On the eve of the opening of the conference of the Bagdad Pact countries, with the participation of U.S. Secretary of State John Foster Dulles, Turkish Foreign Minister Fatin Rustu Zorlu today called for a settlement of the Palestine problem along the lines of the 1947 United Nations partition plan. Turkey, he said, had committed herself to this policy when she signed the treaty setting up the Bagdad Pact.
Addressing a press conference, Mr. Zorlu said he did not expect a discussion of the Israel-Arab conflict to come up at the Bagdad Pact meeting now. He revealed that attempts have been made to exclude private conversations on the Palestine and other issues during the pact meeting.
