The activity of the Alliance Israelite Universeile before the Council of the League of Nations was emphasized at a meeting of the Baltimore branch of the organization in the address of the president. B. H. Hartogensis.
Mr. Hartogensis said the Alliance had taken particular pains to keep the League Council informed as to the deprivation of minority groups in Southeastern Europe. Jews, he said, suffered most, being excluded from schools, from rights to trade and from equal rights at law. He said this was truly notably in Hungary, Poland and Roumania.
Besides Mr. Hartogensis, the following officers were elected: William Levy, vice-president; Herman Games, treasurer, and Herbert Miller, secretary.
