Defense Minister Shimon Peres does not hold the title of Acting Premier, Attorney General Aharon Barak ruled today. Barak gave his opinion at the request of Yitzhak Livni, Director General of the Israel Broadcasting Authority. Livni asked for Barak’s opinion following a complaint by a member of the Democratic Movement for Change. Thus, until further notice, it is Defense Minister Shimon Peres, and the title of Premier refers solely to Yitzhak Rabin.
