Bernhard Baron laid the foundation stone of the new premises of the Bernhard Baron St. George’s Jewish Settlement, towards the erection of which he has given £65,000, at ceremonies on Tuesday.
After the visit of the Prince of Wales to the settlement in February 1927, when he expressed the hope that the settlement would soon be properly house. Mr. Baron promised £50,000, and in July he added a further £15,000. The building when completed will have an infant welfare center and a play center.
The will of Harry Grossman, Chicago broker, who died March 21, disposes of an estate of $250,000, the bulk of which is left to the widow, Mrs. Charlotte Grossman, with the provision that it be divided among his three children at her death. He also left $5,000 to Jewish charities and $50,000 to distant relatives.
