Baron Gunther von Huenefeld, financial backer and passenger of the Bremen on the first westward transatlantic flight, is the son of a Jewish mother, “Das Berliner Tageblatt” declares today.
The announcement was made to counteract the anti-Semitic propaganda which has been carried on by the Deutschnazionale newspapers in connection with the flight. Baron Huenefeld’s mother was the daughter of the German Jewish merchant. Marcus Lachmann. She is a cousin of the publishers of the “Berliner Tageblatt,” Lachmann and Rudolf Mosse.
