Baroness Charlotte Koenigswarter died here at the age of 88. She was known as one of the most famous philanthropists in Austria. She endowed the Jewish Orphanage here. She was one of the founders of the Red Cross in Austria and the Vienna Rescue Society.
The baroness was the widow of Baron Moritz von Koenigswarter, banker and philanthropist, who died in 1893. She was the daughter of Baron Wertheimstein and was a strictly observant Jewess.
