A unique appeal, illustrating the plight of Jewish doctors in Austria was made public here today by the Union of Jewish Doctors.

The appeal asks for funds to enable 250 young Jewish doctors in Austria to proceed abroad to continue their training since they are not admitted to any posts in Austria.

The situation of the Jewish doctors in Austria is growing progressively worse because of the continued dismissal of Jews from State and municipal hospitals. Officially, these dismissals are explained as necessary in order to reduce the staff. The fact is, however, that they are aimed to eliminate the Jews from the medical institutions of the country.

No Jewish applications are accepted now in any hospitals. Dismissing the Jewish doctors, the hospitals advertise for new practitioners. Since the new applicants are not Jews, the situation now is that the Jewish doctors are replaced by non-Jews.
