Bartley Crum and Prof. Waksman Awarded Honorary Degrees by Hebrew Union College

Honorary Doctor of Hebrew Letters degrees were conferred today by Hebrew Union College, at its annual commencement exercises, on Bartley C. Crum, noted lawyer, and Dr. Selman Waksman, world-famous microbiologist and discoverer of steptomycin. Rabbi S. Felix Mendelsohn of Chicago, religious leader and author, received a Doctor of Divinity degree.

Two other honorary degrees–these of rabbi and Master of Hebrew Letters–were conferred on the Rev. Leslie I. Edgar, senior minister of the Liberal Jewish Synagogues of London, and M. Myer Singer, typographer and book designer for the College-Institute, respectively.
