Herman Aumer, Commissioner for Jewish Affairs in the Bavarian Government, has been removed on the grounds that he was dismissed from a military government position last August and was informed at that time that he could not hold any official posts. At the same time, it was announced that this office has been abolished.
Lieut.-Col. John Bradford of the Civil Administration Division of the Military Government in Bavaria, said that the functions of the Jewish Commissariat would be taken over by the Commissariat for Political Persecutees. It was stated that the reorganization and Aumer’s removal were purely coincidental.
Military Government officials here have expressed the conviction that the re-organization will result in greater effectiveness in increasing aid to all Nazi victims. There is evidence that Jewish circles were dissatisfied with Aumer’s “uncooperative attitude.”
