The postponement, pending further study has been welcomed in the Jewish community here which was alarmed over the fact that the fate of the Jewish DP’s had become a political issue in Bavaria. Their apprehension was aroused when Dr. Theodor Oberlaender, Bavarian Secretary of State for Refugees, who is a former high-ranking Nazi and an S.S. officer, announced that he intended to crack down on the DP’s and “create order” in the camp.
