Bavarian Parliament Approves $80,000 Aid to Jewish Communities

The Bavarian legislature has approved an $80,000 subsidy to the Association of Jewish Communities for the 1953 fiscal year, thus overruling a decision of the Bavarian cabinet that only $143,000 should be granted within the next four years. The amount now voted, the same as last year, is in line with similar subsidies paid to Christian denominations.

The Union of Jewish Communities of Northwest Germany today adopted a resolution demanding immediate passage of a Federal indemnification law for individual victims of Nazism. The Union protested reports that the measure would be pigeonholed until after the national elections next Fall.
