Begging, one of the most prevalent eastern “plagues,” henceforth will be prohibited in Jerusalem, an Associated Press despatch from Jerusalem states.
An order just issued prohibits all street soliciting and “touting,” particular stress being laid on the annoyance of tourists. Guides and shopkeepers are warned that in future such solicitation will be an offense punishable by law, the despatch states.
