Premier Menachem Begin disclosed to the Knesset’s Foreign Relations and Security Committee today that he has sent a letter to President Anwar Sadat of Egypt, replying to the letter he received from Sadat before he left for Washington March 20. He did not disclose the contents of his letter.
Political circles here believe Begin once again urged renewal of the direct talks between Israel and Egypt and possibly inquired about the feasibility of Defense Minister Ezer Weizman going to Cairo to renew the process. Begin said the letter was conveyed to Sadat through U.S. diplomatic channels. Some sources expect the Premier to refer to the letter when he addresses the Knesset tomorrow.
