The Premier’s office announced it was sticking to the figure of 10 more settlements to be built on the West Bank. The office issued the statement in the name of Premier Menachem Begin following claims by the Gush Emunim that “senior government officials” had promised them the government would continue to establish new settlements on the West Bank, even after the 10 settlements are completed. Of the 10 Begin referred to in various interviews, six have already been approved by the Cabinet and four more remain to be approved.
