Paul Henri-Spaak, Belgium’s Foreign Minister, said in the Senate today that he had called in an Iraqi diplomat to express Belgium; displeasure over Arab threats against Belgian firms planning to participate in the International Fair at Tel Aviv.
The Foreign Minister disclosed his action in reply to questions about the threats. He said he had called in the diplomat who signed the circulars to convey to him the “undesirable character” of such pressures and that the diplomat took note of the protest. He added that Belgium’s Minister for External Trade, Henry Brasseur, would be present at “Belgian Day” at the Tel Aviv Fair on June 18. The Minister will visit Israel from June 17 to June 21.
