Shimshon Belkind, 73 years old, a founder of the Jewish colony of Rishon-le-Zion (First of Zion) died yesterday.
He was a member of the Bilu organization, which established the colony in 1882 as the second Jewish settlement in Palestine. The Bilu, compounded from the initials of a Hebrew sentence which means, “House of Jacob, let us rise and go,” was a group of youthful Zionists.
