REPORTED ARAB-ZIONIST PEACE NEGOTIATIONS WERE FLATLY DENIED AT A PRESS CONFERENCE TODAY BY DAVID BEN-GURION, CHAIRMAN OF THE JERUSALEM EXECUTIVE OF THE JEWISH AGENCY FOR PALESTINE.

DECLARING NO PROPOSAL LOOKING TOWARD AN AGREEMENT HAD BEEN RECEIVED, MR. BEN-GURION ASSERTED SOME “UNFRIENDLY ENGLISHMEN AND NON-ZIONISTS” WERE NEGOTIATING IN EGYPT, PARIS AND LONDON FOR A SOLUTION OF THE “JEWISH PROBLEM.” HE SAID THE AGENCY WOULD NOT ENTER ANY NEGOTIATIONS WHOSE OBVIOUS PURPOSE WAS TO PREVENT JEWS FROM BECOMING A MAJORITY AND TO MAKE THEM A MINORITY WITHIN AN “ARAB GHETTO” UNDER THE MUFTI (NOW A FUGITIVE IN SYRIA) AND FAWZI BEY EL KAUKAJI, REPUTED LEADER OF THE ARAB TERRORISTS.

MR. BEN-GURION DEFINED THE AGENCY’S PRESENT TASK AS TO FIGHT FOR RIGHTS GUARANTEED UNDER THE MANDATE, TO RESIST CONTINUATION OF THE “POLITICAL MAXIMUM” YARDSTICK FOR IMMIGRATION AND TO PRESS FOR A CONCRETE PROPOSAL FOR ESTABLISHMENT OF A JEWISH STATE IN PART OF THE COUNTRY FOR SUBMISSION TO THE NEXT ZIONIST CONGRESS.
