Prime Minister David Ben-Gurion returned home this morning after spending two weeks in Europe, where he paid State visits to France, Belgium and The Netherlands–and told his countrymen that “We are not isolated. We have devoted and loyal friends, whose friendship is unconditional.”
Mr. Ben-Gurion was greeted at the airport by Acting Prime Minister Levi Eshkol, other members of the Cabinet and Parliament, and by members of the diplomatic corps headed by the Soviet Ambassador, and included the Argentine charge d’affaires.
In reference to France, which had occupied an important place on his itinerary, the Premier said: “I had very useful talks with the French leaders, with whom, I found, we have a common language in regard to world, regional and specific Israeli problems.” Many questions concerning Israel, said the Prime Minister, had been raised by French President Charles de Gaulle himself. He had had two long talks with Gen.de Gaulle. The French President, said Mr. Ben-Gurion, “showed a keen understanding about our problems.”
