Prime Minister David Ben-Gurion acting in his capacity of Defense Minister reviewed today before the Knesset Foreign Affairs Committee Israel’s security situation in the light of changes in the Arab world developing from the most recent revolutions in several Arab countries.
He stressed that Israel’s security rested on the deterrent capacity of its military forces and the country’s international position. No other details of his review were disclosed. The Committee will discuss his review.
Meanwhile, it was revealed today that new equipment and “new categories of weapons” will be added to Israel’s military capacity this year. The news was revealed by Major General Zvi Tsur, the Chief of Staff. Speaking before a graduation exercise of cadets, the Chief of Staff also said that the program will include formation of new units and training of technicians.
