Benni Mahrshak, a pioneer member of Palmach, the strike force of Haganah before the Israeli State was founded, died here last night of cancer at the age of 68 Mahrshak was born in the Ukraine the son of a rabbi and as a child he witnessed his father’s murder by pogromists. When he came to Palestine he joined Kibbutz Givat Hashlosha. He participated in Haganah’s “illegal” immigration movement before 1948 and fought in Israel’s war for independence.
