Berlin’s mayor said Sunday he opposes plans for a national Holocaust memorial because it could be vandalized. Eberhard Diepgen, a long-standing opponent of the proposed monument in central Berlin, said in a newspaper interview that it would cost millions of dollars each year to guard it.
