A Bessarabian committee of the government party, headed by Professor Stere and Minister Halipa, have cabled Premier Maniu saying “the conditions under which the trial of the anti-Semitic hooligans who participated in the Kishinev disturbances was conducted proved that the court was unable to establish their guilt because the police were connected with the excesses. Deeply regretting that the guilty go unpunished, our committee demands retribution for those guilty of encouraging the hooligans.”
