The establishment of a Bulgaro-Jewish League for the purpose of fostering fraternal relations between Jews and Bulgarians is being arranged here.
deputy Gregor Vassilev is one of the promoters of the League.
The Bulgarian press expresses endorsement of the aims of the proposed league. Newspapers published a series of articles and have quoted the opinion of Bulgarian leaders showing its understanding and appreciation of the Jews. A banquet was held recently at the home of the Jewish leader, Albert Pipano, relative of Grand Rabbi David Pipano. The King, Princess Eudoxie, Archbishop of Sofia, Monsignor Stephan, General Lazarov, head of the Sofia garrison, and other prominent Bulgarians were present.
“La Bulgarians,” the official organ of the government, commenting upon the banquet stated that it reunited the Bulgarians and Jews, proving how strong are the links between the two groups.
