British Foreign Secretary Ernest Bevin has accepted an invitation to attend the Israeli mission’s reception here on Wednesday marking the first anniversary of the state of Israel, it was learned today. The reception will be tendered in honor of British Government officials and members of the diplomatic colony.
A series of celebrations marking Israel’s first anniversary scheduled to be held this week throughout Britain began yesterday in Brimingham where local Zionist leaders addressed a gathering of 300 prominent residents of the city on the significance of the occasion.
Similar celebrations were planned for today and tomorrow in Jewish communities throughout England, culminating in a mass rally in London on Wednesday to be held under the auspices of the British Zionist Federation. A reception will be held by the Israeli mission tomorrow for Israelis now in London.
