A celebration scheduled last night to mark the 60th anniversary of the distinguished Hebrew poet, Chaim Nachman Bialik, was cancelled at the last moment upon the advice of the police department.
The police department asked that the meeting be cancelled in order to prevent any possible encounter between Jews returning from the celebration and Nazi Storm Troopers, returning from a torchlight procession to celebrate Adolph Hitler’s appointment as German Chancellor.
