American Jews were urged today to support Jewish colonization in Biro-Bidjan, Jewish autonomous region in the Soviet Union, at the concluding session of the National Conference for Biro-Bidjan, which was attended by more than 500 delegates from the U.S., Canada, and Mexico and an audience of 2,000. The two-day conference was sponsored by the American Biro-Bidjan Committee and the ICOR Association.
Senator Warren G. Magnuson of Washington, principal speaker, declared: “I seen your Biro-Bidjan movement in America a symbol of the larger world encompassing friendship and collaboration between the peoples of America and the Soviet Union. Other speakers included Vassily A. Kasaniev, Consul General of the Soviet Union, Magistrate Dona M. Kross, and Councilman Stanley Isaacs.
