The situation in the Middle East, including Israel, was reviewed at length by Jacob Blaustein, president of the American Jewish Committee, during a conference here with Assistant Secretary of State Henry A. Byroade, who is in charge of Near Eastern affairs. Among the matters discussed, Mr. Blaustein reported, were economic assistance to the area and Jerusalem.
