Ambassador Yehuda Blum of Israel charged last night that five anti-Israeli resolutions adopted by the General Assembly on the Palestinian Question were designed to sabotage a genuinely peaceful solution of the Arab-Israeli conflict and discredited the United Nations, which has already severely tarnished its integrity by tolerating the passage of similar resolutions in the past.

The resolutions were adopted by a large majority. Only Israel and the United States voted against all the resolutions.

The major resolution adopted last night, by a vote of 124-4, with 15 abstentions, invited all parties to the Mideast conflict — including the Palestine Liberation Organization, the United States and the Soviet Union — to take part in an international peace conference “on an equal footing.” The basis for the proposed conference, the resolution states, is the right of the Palestinian people to an independent state in Palestine and the right of all states in the region to exist within secure and recognized boundaries. Canada and Australia joined the U.S. and Israel in voting against this resolution.

The other four resolutions, which were also adopted by an overwhelming majority, dealt with the implementation of the recommendations of the Special Committee on Palestinian Rights, economic and social assistance to the Palestinian people and the dissemination of information regarding UN activities on the Palestine Question.

FOUR MORE ANTI-ISRAEL RESOLUTIONS PENDING

Meanwhile, the Assembly was expected to vote on four anti-Israeli draft resolutions Friday, at the conclusion of a debate on the Mideast.

The first draft resolution calls for Israel’s isolation, declaring that it is not “a peace-loving member-state.”

The second draft demands that Israel pay restitution for the “Palestinian cultural property” allegedly taken by the Israeli army last year during the war in Lebanon.

The third draft resolution calls on all the states that had established diplomatic missions in Jerusalem, which Israel in 1980 proclaimed as its undivided capital, to withdraw their missions from the city. The draft says that Israel’s proclamation regarding Jerusalem is “null and void.”

The fourth draft resolution condemns Israeli “aggression” and its treatment of the Palestinians. It also condemns Israel’s annexation of the Golan Heights in 1981.

The four draft resolutions are expected to be approved by a large majority.
