Arrival in England of former French Premier Leon Blum was reported in the News-Chronicle today by Vernon Bartlett, journalist and Independent M.P.
Bartlett also reported that former French Interior Secretary Georges Mandel was en route to England. He added that many thousands of political refugees, including numerous notables, had not been heard from. “These unhappy people,” he said, “are under no illusions with regard to the further miseries in store unless British, and American ships immediately transfer them to relative security.”
Blum had variously been reported held by the Nazis in Paris and a refugee in Switzerland.
