Enrollment of 10,000 new members is the “going away” gift being planned by the B’nai B’rith Membership Cabinet to Dr. William A. Wexler when he retires in October as international president of B’nai B’rith. Philip M. Klutznick, international president of B’nai B’rith from 1953 to 1959 and now heading a special “Honor Bill Wexler Committee,” said the special campaign will continue until Oct. 13, the 128th anniversary of B’nai B’rith and the opening day of its triennial convention in Philadelphia. Klutznick described the 10,000-member tribute as a “meaningful acknowledgement to Bill Wexler that his six years at the hub-in a turbulent period of unusual challenge to Jewish life-are a record of wise effort and much fulfillment.
