Four hospitality houses and a community center furnished and equipped by B’nai B’rith for the refugees at the emergency shelter established by the United States Government at Fort Ontario will be officially dedicated there on Sunday.
The community center, which is used for all communal functions by the 982 refugees, has been equipped by B’nai B’rith as part of its national war service program with a public address system, radio, card and game room, game equipment and a variety of furniture. The four hospitality houses, each containing three rooms and used as recreational headquarters for the various residential areas of the shelter, have been furnished with radios, game equipment and furniture. The synagogue being used by Orthodox Jews and special religious equipment for Sephardic Jews among the refugees have already been furnished by B’nai B’rith.
