Failure of our country to give arms to Israel will seriously weaken our leadership of the entire free world, Philip M. Klutznick, president of B’nai B’rith, warned last night. “What will the small nations who are our friends think if Israel were to collapse because we did not honor her request for defense weapons?” he asked. He spoke at a B’nai B’rith dinner honoring Joseph M. Finkle.
He cautioned that Israel could not rely on promises of United Nations aid, since action taken there might be subject to Soviet veto. “Israel is not so large as to be able to buy time with space” if the Arabs launch an attack, he said.
