B’nai Zion, the American fraternal Zionist organization, has been admitted into membership in the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, it was announced today in a joint statement by Dr. William A. Wexler, chairman of the Presidents Conference, and Harold Bernstein, newly-elected president of B’nai Zion. The action was ratified by delegates to B’nai Zion’s 61st annual national convention last week-end. according to Herman Z. Quittman, national secretary. Yehuda Hellman, executive director of the Presidents Conference welcomed the fraternal order to membership and underlined the importance of “unified action in the American Jewish community to meet the crisis situation affecting Israel’s security today.” He said B’nai Zion’s joining the Presidents Conference brings to 24 the number of national Jewish bodies that make up the Presidents Conference.
