A plea to the British-Jewish community to provide funds for the Board of Deputies of British Jews so that its work will not be hampered, was made here last night by Dr. Abraham Cohen in accepting re-election to the presidency of the Board. His candidacy was unopposed. Barnett Janner, Labor M.P., and Alderman A. Moss were re-elected vice-presidents.
In his acceptance speech, Dr. Cohen declared that the destiny of the individual Jew and the Jewish communities is bound up with world events and pointed out that the current world scene presents grave aspects. He stressed, however, that regardless of “what the future has in store, we must be determined that the Board will be true to its purposes and faithful to its great traditions of nearly 200 years as a representative institution of Anglo-Jewry.”
