Police rendered harmless a small explosive charge a minute after it was discovered by passersby near the Petah Tikva police station. Police said the bomb was fashioned from a metal pipe and contained about eight ounces of explosives attached to a timing device and hidden in a plastic bag. The police bomb disposal unit exploded it harmlessly in a special canister. Meanwhile in Lod an Israeli military court sentenced two Arab terrorists to life imprisonment for having planned mass murder in a Haifa movie theater last year.
