A crude, home-made bomb was thrown today into the Ministry of Education building here. Only slight damage was caused by the blast. The police immediately detained a number of suspects who are believed to be members of an extreme Orthodox group opposed to a system of unified state education.
At a mass meeting in Tel Aviv yesterday, the Agudas Israel movement decided not to give up religious education until all of Israel “obeys the religious commandments.” Part of the budget for Agudah-supported educational institutions–which the speakers at the rally placed at 310–is supplied by the government, and the remainder the Agudists propose to raise through special fund-raising campaigns.
