The Boston City Council has adopted a measure ordering Mayor James Curley not to spend city funds to entertain representatives of the British Government as official guests of the city.
The bill was introduced in the council by Councilor Milton Cook, a former army major, who said that it was motivated by British Foreign Secretary Ernest Bevin’s statement that Americans favor the immigration of 100,000 displaced European Jews to Palestine because they did not want “too many of them” in New York.
