A prominent Jewish philanthropist here has underwritten construction of a sports center at Brandeis University, it was announced today. The $250,000 gift was received from Joseph M. Linsey, a Brandeis trustee, national chairman of the University’s Development Campaign, and national chairman of its Athletic Association.
Chief feature of the Sports Center will be a 75 by 45-foot Olympic-sized swimming pool which will broaden the athletic program at the University and enable Brandeis to participate in intercollegiate swimming competition. Other facilities to be included are squash and handball courts, locker rooms and shower facilities. Plans also call for a spectator area of some 300 seats near the swimming pool.
