Rabbis in the Boston area will attend circumcision ceremonies only if a “mohel” or a Jewish physician performs the operation, it was announced here today by Rabbi Joseph S. Shubow, president of the Greater Boston Rabbinical Association. The announcement said that only “under the most exceptional circumstances” may members of the Rabbinical Association recite the ritual when the surgeon performing the circumcision is a non-Jew.
