Both Israel and the Palestinian Authority welcomed a U.N. Security Council resolution calling for a Palestinian state alongside the Jewish state. But the two sides applauded different portions of the resolution, sponsored by the United States, which also called for an “immediate cessation of all acts of violence, including all forms of terror, provocation, incitement and destruction.”
