An advisory council of noted American industrialists and economists is being formed to compile complete lists of American substitutes for all German products now being imported. Aided by the almost unanimous consumer’s boycott on the part of the Jewish population and by other Americans, the League for the Defense of Jewish Rights has proceeded with the organization of the various trades and professions in order to make the boycott fool proof.
A canvass among importers reveals that, since the proclamation of the boycott at a conference of organizations representing the Jews of the nation at the Hotel Astor, there has been a decided drop in demand for German goods. Orders with German concerns have been cancelled on a large scale in recent weeks, the importers reveal.
Following a series of executive conferences held in Newark, N. J. over the week-end, the American League for the Defense of Jewish Rights will extend its activity into Newark and vicinity to organize a boycott against German-made goods.
