Brandeis University Gets $70,000 U.S. Grant for Chemistry Department

A grant of $70,000 for the purchase of special equipment needed by the chemistry department was given to Brandeis University by the National Science Foundation, it was announced here today. The new grant will enable Brandeis chemists to buy a mass spectrometer for use in determining the mass and, in many cases, the molecular weight of a compound.

At the same time, it was announced that Charles E. Dockser, of Newton Center, has given Brandeis a $50,000 gift to be used for neurochemistry, instrument and neurophysiological laboratories. Mr. Dockser, a director of the Greater Boston Brandeis University Associates, is also a member of the corporation of Northeastern University, in Boston.
