Brandeis University reported today a gift of $75,000 the largest in its history from a donor in tribute to another supporter of the school. Frank J. Prince of New York, an industrialist, made the grant in honor of his friend Jacob A. Goldfarb, a member of the university board of trustees.
The gift was made in connection with a recent dinner honoring Mr. Goldfarb on his 65th birthday, at which friends announced establishment of the Jacob A. and Bertha Goldfarb Endowed Development Fund. The new Brandeis University Library was made possible by gifts from the Goldfarbs.
An oil painting by the Seventeenth Century Dutch artist, Bartholomeus Van der Heist, valued at more than $10,000 has been presented to the Brandeis University art collection by L Austin Kelly III, New York consulting engineer. Mr. Kelly has made art gifts to a number of American universities.
