The third academic year of Brandeis University — the only non-sectarian Jewish-sponsored institution of higher learning in the United States — will open tomorrow, with a freshman class of 230 students, it was revealed here. The new students come from 25 states and two foreign countries.
A total of 113 courses — 82 of the new subjects — will be offered this term by 41 faculty members. Among the professors assuming new teaching posts this semester are Albert Guerard, literary historian; Irving Fine, composer and conductor, and Marie Syrkin, author and lecturer.
