The wooden gavel used by the late Dr. Oswaldo Aranha of Brazil when, as president of the United Nations General Assembly, he presided over some of the decisive sessions which led to the creation of Israel and its admission to the U,N.has been presented by Brazilian authorities to a cultural center in Israel. The center, named after Dr. Aranha, is at Kibbutz Brur Hayil, a settlement made up of Jewish emigres from Brazil.
