The Brazilian Consul at Casablanca, acting on instructions from the Brazilian Embassy at Vichy, has commenced renewal of the expired special Brazilian visas held by a number of Jewish refugees now interned at Casablanca, it was learned here today.
This action follows intervention with the Brazilian authorities by the Hias-Ica Emigration Association on behalf of the refugees who were stranded in Casablanca when the French authorities refused to permit the liner Alcina, on which they were proceeding from Marseille to Martinique, to proceed on its journey.
