A prize established here last year, in memory of a Lebanese settler, was awarded today to a Jewish scientist, Dr. Bernardo Leo Wajchenberg, specialist in diabetes at the Municipal Hospital of Sao Paulo.
The “Nami Jafet” prize, named after one of the founders of a Lebanese family that settled in Sao Paulo, honors Dr. Wajchenberg with a “diploma of gratitude for exceptional work in his field of research. ” Dr. Wajchenberg also received 500,000 cruzeros ($700.)
