Several prominent newspaper here are opposing the immigrat### law which would permit the entry of immigrants up to two per cent of the number from each country present in Brazil in 1920.
The newspapers point out editorially that its immigrants have been a blessing for Brazil and that the country is indebted to them for the establishment of a number of industries. An increase of at least three per cent in the quota is urged.
As already reported, this law would especially affect Jewish immigration, since there were comparatively few immigrants from Russia, Poland and Rumania in Brazil in 1920.
